David Grossman : Travel Writer

About David Grossman

My life as a frequent business traveler has spanned four decades.   In that time I have seen the airline industry deregulated and many changes that have greatly impacted the lives of business and leisure travelers alike.

I also worked in the airline industry for 11 years where I helped implement the consumer online reservations systems now used by millions of travelers to find low air fares on the Internet.   I served as the director of electronic commerce for US Airways prior to 9/11/01, where I managed the airline's web site.   I also worked for Galileo International, a global computerized reservations system used by thousands of travel agencies to book travel for their customers.   At Galileo International, I helped develop consumer online reservations systems for a number of airlines, including United Airlines, Air Canada, and British Airways.

Prior to my stint in the airline industry, I worked in electronic publishing for mapmaker, Rand McNally, and the publisher of Who's Who in America.   In both cases I converted printed publications into electronic databases for online access.   With Rand McNally I also led a project to record all of the mileages and routes for all of the railroads in the U.S. and Canada.

Over the course of my career as a business traveler and an airline executive, I have visited more than 40 countries and all 50 states.

I earned an MBA in Marketing and Finance from Northwestern University, and a Masters in Library/Information Science and a Bachelors Degree in Journalism from the University of Michigan.

I originally grew up in New York City and have lived in Chicago, Michigan, and Washington, DC.   I currently reside in the San Francisco Bay area.   Please feel free to drop me a note.
